Fishing for predators in street fishing in Lille
A city not widely known for its potential in street fishing, but with highly intriguing possibilities!
I grew up there, so I've spent thousands of hours hunting for perch, zander, and pike.
The Deûle is a river, albeit canalized, whose water quality has only improved in recent years. The arrival of the goby, although problematic in terms of biodiversity, has allowed predator populations to thrive due to the abundance of these easy-to-capture prey.
My favourite fish to target in here is of course the elusive zander.
A nocturnal predator but highly effective, this fish has seen its numbers explode in the region precisely due to the arrival of the goby and the increase in crayfish populations. The average size in the area is very promising, and it's possible to catch specimens exceeding 90 centimeters!
This fish, even though it's less combative than pike or sea bass, represents quite a challenge for the angler due to its complex behavior! However, it's quite gregarious, and when the right combination is found, it's possible to reel in multiple catches in a short amount of time.
The other pleasure of fishing for zander is definitely the strike, a 'shotgun blast' that would wake up even the sleepiest angler!
Fishing accessible to everyone, right at your doorstep, to enjoy nature thriving in the heart of the metropolis!
I'm present for about a month each year, in November, which is always excellent. Both big perch and zander are very active, it's the time for great catches!
The perch
These brave perch, indeed, are not left behind and also play their role in regulating invasive species, and they take full advantage of it.
he invasion of gobies has had the effect of doubling the average size of perch in the Deûle from about 20 centimeters... To double !
Gorgeous, colorful, and feisty fish, thrilling to pursue with light gear. It's possible in the autumn to have memorable outings chasing them, with regularly several fish between 40 and 50 centimeters as the reward!
We'll fish for them using techniques similar to those used for sea bass or black bass, such as jigging, chatterbait, spinnerbait, jerkbaits... In short, a whole bunch of complicated names for lures that aren't actually complicated, and I'd be happy to introduce you to their various uses!
